Thoughts about Leonia's downtown

• Eliminate Broad Ave parking in key areas, widen sidewalks, allow store owners to serve on the sidewalk.
• Install a small recharging station in the Elm Street lot.
• Improve Leonia's Walk Score.
• Ask Columbia University to use Leonia as a laboratory in their Urban Design program.
• Start with an organized street festival down Broad Ave with different local as well as outside vendors participating.
• Imitate Ridgewood with its small scale shops.
• Establish a well thought out marketing plan to attract both businesses and home buyers.
• Eliminate small street at "The Triangle" to bring those stores up to Broad Avenue with parking in the back.
• Where can we read the studies that were done in the past? Can they be put on the Leonia website so that we can access them and see what they had suggested? 
• Provide economic incentives in the form of tax rebates, cuts, credits, etc. to the landlords and the businesses opening up new ventures in town.
• Adding parking will HELP not HURT Leonia businesses.
• Is there a Leonia Chamber of Commerce?
• It is so much better to stay in Our Town and shop and get what we have available here. 
• The downtown will only improve if we spend time on attracting relevant businesses (given the feedback of the full community), provide incentives, and make an argument to prospective shops that they can in fact make money setting up a business in Leonia.
• Tear down the old Ambulance Corps building.  Create parking for the Library and local businesses.
• Merge with Englewood rather than Palisades Park.
• Build a wine-bar or outdoor grill style place on the Texaco lot rather then just parking.
• What we really need to know is why the town makes it so hard for someone to open a business.
